This
bridge is to support understanding of the handmade music presented
on "Turtles All The Way Down." At the turn of the century,
a famous metaphysician was lecturing in England about the universe,
the solar system and how man once believed the sun revolved around
the Earth. He went on to say that now we knew through modern science
that actually the Earth revolves around the sun, and so on. As he
was leaving the lecture hall, an elderly woman approached him and
disputed his claim of the Earth floating in space around the sun.
She told him that really the Earth was being carried on the back of
a giant turtle. With his logic he replied, "Yes, but what is
supporting that turtle?" She wagged her finger at him and said,
"Didn't you know? It's turtles all the way down." And thus
the title of this album. I understand celestial motion, but I also
believe the book is still open and there is more in Heaven and Earth
than is contained in our philosophy, turtleheads.
